Che Chesterman shot to fame two-years ago when his smooth vocals and laid back personality made him a fan favourite with X Factor viewers. The public voted then then teenager to the final-three where he competed with Reggie ‘N’ Bollie and eventual winner Louisa Johnson for the crown.
During his time on the ITV talent contest back in 2015, Che was mentored by Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw, he also struck up a close bond with fellow contestants Reggie ‘N’ Bollie who were mentored into second place by Cheryl.
Since leaving the show in third place the now 20-year-old has been busy recording his debut album, and has recently recorded a collaboration with Reggie ‘N’ Bollie. Here we talk exclusively to Che Chesterman about that collab, his future music releases, post X Factor experiences and so much more.
Since coming third on X Factor in 2015 what have you been up to?
Since coming third on The X Factor I’ve been up to quite a lot. I’ve been working on a lot of projects that I look to release very soon. Music is my main priority and always will be but I’ve been working on a lot of stuff to do with football as well. I hope to start my own YouTube channel dedicated to football, as well as doing various studio sessions at the same time. I’m lucky to be able to call work my passion.
What was your main highlight of your X Factor experience?
My main highlight of my X Factor experience has to be coming back to see my family just before the finals. To see my whole family standing in front of me, so proud with what I’d achieved was overwhelming to say the least. I hope I continue to make them proud.
You were mentored by Nick Grimshaw, are you still in touch with him?
I don’t really talk to Nick a lot anymore, when I first came out of The X Factor we were in contact a lot but we both have work commitments and schedules to stick to. He’s a great guy!
You have struck up a close bond with Reggie N Bollie, and have recorded a song together. When can fans expect to hear the track?
Me and Reggie ‘N’ Bollie met up a couple of weeks ago and had our first studio session together. To say it went well would be an understatement. Them two boys are truly underrated, two of the hardest working, realest guys I know and I’m lucky to call them my friends. The track we done together will feature on Reggie ‘N’ Bollie’s new album… and you never know, it may be released as a single.

Can you give us any details about the track eg style, some lyrics?
The style of the song me and Reggie ‘N’ Bollie are doing together is hard to say, it’s a bit of a mixture. I don’t think it’s something Reggie ‘N’ Bollie fans will expect. The song is filled with inspirational lyrics and a true meaning… I cant wait for you all to hear it.
Do you plan on releasing your own album this year?
My album is something I really wanna take my time on, I know I’ve been out of X Factor nearing two years now but I’m only just getting ready to release my single in the summer… (which is an original song no one will expect). I hope to bring my album out next year.
Can fans expect to see you on tour soon?
I’ve been doing a lot of gigs since leaving the X Factor and going on tour is something I love so much. Once my single is released I hope to tour round the UK.
During X Factor you covered some massive tunes from legendary artists, is there anyone in particular you would like to collab with?
My all time favourite is Stevie Wonder, he is a God to me, but if I had to pick someone to collab with from the current music industry, it would have to be Ed Sheeran or Stormzy, they are killin’ the game right now.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
highlight of my career so far has to be touring the UK [during the live X Factor tour]. To sing to thousands of people with filled out arenas is a dream of any artist, I’m happy to say I have done that.
What do you hope to achieve in the next ten years?
In the next ten years, I hope to achieve ultimate happiness. No matter what career you have, or whatever you do for work, for me, happiness comes first.
