XMPLA has recently released a dynamic new and fresh track that combines hip-hop and other genres in his first collaboration. The single, titled ‘Excited,’ features three rappers out of Ireland: Hudis, Sean X and SageMay. These four artists together have created an incredible anthem with a variety of sounds that have impressed fans around the world. In an exclusive interview with CelebMix, XMPLA opened up about the new track, his new EP and more.
What can you tell us about your new track ‘Excited’ and its message?
This new track is about living your best life, being in a mindset that is forever young and feeling excited about it!
How was the collaboration? Was it exciting (pun intended) to work with other amazing artists on this?
This is the exact emotion I felt when this came together as it has such a wide variety of talent and a very diverse sound palette, vocally and sonically.
Is this a sneak peek for what the new EP is going to sound like?
Yes and no. Every track is a bit of a flip from each other, but eventually it comes full circle and will make more sense when you get your ears around a few more tracks!
What artists have inspired your work or currently inspire you?
In the past couple of years, J Cole and Kendrick have been big influences and most recently Anderson .Paak. I’m constantly getting inspired [by] all the sounds around me! If I’m not listening to a particular artist, I am free-styling over different beats on Youtube. Also, I tend to go through periods of not listening to any music to try and breed brand new ideas!
Is there an artist you would like to remix and collaborate with in the future?
I want to try and steer away from remixes for now. I would love to work with Kendrick Lamar. I feel like we could come up with something weird and dope!!
What can fans look forward to in the near or distant future?
A more consistent stream of music coming their way. I have definitely found my groove and there is no stopping this train!
    Listen to ‘Excited’ here.
