JoLivi is an exciting country music talent hailing from Hawaii, she fell in love with the genre as a child and made the move to LA several years ago to pursue her dream career in music. Since making the move she has opened for the likes of Andy Grammar, Gavin DeGraw, and Lindsey Stirling.
In June she released her brilliant single ‘Stuck’ which is currently garnering major attraction within the country scene. Here at CelebMix we are thrilled to chat with JoLivi about the track.
Growing up in Hawaii, how did you come to love Country Music?
Old Country music and old Hawaiian music actually sound very similar. The steel guitar was invented in Hawaii. My mother listened to so many different genres of music so I was able to listen to all the greats. Merle Haggard, Kris Kristopherson, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, and good ole’ George Strait to name a few.
Is there a growing Country scene in Hawaii at the moment?
Oh most definitely. Growing up there weren’t any country radio stations. Now there are plenty and a lot of the greats are making their way over to the islands to perform at the Aloha Stadium on O’ahu.
Your new single Stuck is out now, what would you say was the main inspiration behind the track?
The word stuck doesn’t really have a positive feeling. I wanted to write a song about being stuck would be great as long as I’m with you. If you were an island, I’d wanna be stuck.
How have you found the fan response so far?
It’s been incredible. The spins are rolling in on Spotify and I get lots of fan love on social media.
You’ve been lucky enough to have opened for a number of leading country acts, can we expect to see you on your own headline tour soon?
That’s the goal!! I want to tour with a purpose :). Honestly, I love touring and opening for other performers. You learn a lot and gain a lot of new fans.
Along with releasing Stuck, what else can we expect from you this year?
I have one more single coming out in October and then the holidays will come and then back to the studio to finish more singles.
Do you plan on releasing an album next year?
It’s more single by single. I may release an EP!
How would you say your music fits into the current country scene?
I have great influences and listen to a lot of music. I think my songs fit perfect and also bring a little blues vibe to the scene like Maren Morris.
