It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost two years since Nicholas McDonald auditioned for The X Factor. After finishing as the runner-up on The X Factor and releasing his debut album ‘In the Arms of an Angel’ in 2014, Nicholas is almost ready to make his musical comeback. Here, he talks to CelebMix in an exclusive interview about life after the show.
Nicholas! It’s been a while since we heard from you. What have you been up to?
Since the show I have been doing a lot of gigs and shows around the UK and have also been working on my second album which is looking to be out later this year. I have also been busy organising my first ever UK and Ireland solo tour which I am really looking forward to!
Your debut album came out last year.. have you been working on a follow-up?
Yes, I have been working on my second album for the last six months now. I am currently over in LA to record more tracks for it – exciting times!
Your fans are clearly really passionate about you. How does it feel having such a strong base?
Without my fans I would be nowhere. Their support is out of this world and I cannot thank them enough for all the support until now – I love them all.
How has your life changed since X Factor?
Yeah… my life has changed so much since the show, it’s been crazy since being out the show with people asking for photos and different things – it’s hard to get used to.
Do you feel any pressure to deliver on your second album? Your first was mostly covers…
Yes, I do feel a little pressure but I just want to give back to the fans for all the love and support they have shown me.
What’s the best thing about being “famous”?
The best thing about being famous is just people showing their love and support to you – it’s crazy!
Boys are facing a lot more pressure to look good nowadays. What do you do to keep up your appearance?
I have been going to a personal trainer for a few months now to help improve myself but I also just make sure that my hair looks good and and I have good aftershave on.
What sort of artists do you look up to?
I look up to a lot of different artists like One Direction, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars and Sam Smith.

Finally, what can your fans expect from you soon….
There is a lot coming from me this year. I have the tour in July and also the album that’s coming out later in the year. I can’t wait until all my fans hear it!
