Pauli The PSM is unlike millions of other artists listeners discover on streaming platforms. The “CAPRICORN” singer-songwriter is making waves in the music industry with his genre-defying sound and introspective approach to songwriting. After touring with Harry Styles for over two years and capturing the hearts of millions across the world, Pauli The PSM has garnered a dedicated fanbase of his own and embarked on an impressive artistic journey over the past few years. Most recently, he released a brand new single, “I Don’t Deserve You (Sunshine).” In an exclusive interview with CelebMix, Pauli The PSM opens up about new music, touring, and what fans can look forward to coming soon.
What can you tell us about your brand new single “I Don’t Deserve You (Sunshine)” and the inspiration behind that track?
This song is a reflection of a journey through the inner workings of my mind, with Ariza playing the role of my therapist for the day. Through our collaboration, we crafted a piece that speaks to the universal experience of self doubt and the struggle to keep our internal fire burning. “Sunshine” is a metaphor for the love that we carry within us and the vital spark that drives us forward.
How does this song differ from other singles you have released in the past?
This single stands out as one of my most introspective pieces, with the first verse crafted like a sonnet. I’m basically Black Shakespeare (that was a joke), but what more can I say.. it’s a heartfelt love letter to myself, written in the style of a personal journal, fully aware that listeners will be flipping thorough the pages. In this song, listeners become voyeurs, witnessing an intimate outpouring of my soul.
Can you tell us about the artwork around the track?
The artwork is a modern homage to Donna Summer’s “Four Seasons of Love.” Collaborating with my close friends at Breakfast For Dinner, we reimagined this iconic 70s masterpiece with our 2024 twist, featuring fashion from Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY and adorned with pearls from Elioú. It’s a blend of nostalgia and contemporary artistry.
You have a ton of experience when it comes to performing. You even toured with Harry Styles as his musical director and percussionist. Do you plan on touring on your own soon?
Last year, I embarked on my first solo headline tour in the US, and earlier this year, we brought the Saucy Tour to the UK and Europe. There are still so many places I need to visit, especially in Africa and the Caribbean – playing shows in my motherland is the dream! We’ve just announced a show in Mexico City this fall, so we’re definitely expanding. Stay tuned for updates though…Saucy Tour might be coming to a town near you in the not too far distant future!
For fans just discovering your original music, what do you want them to know?
Prepare for a diverse sonic journey. My music spans from ambient neo-classical soundscapes featuring astronauts discussing the overview effect, as heard on my album “OFFAIR: The Power of Your Subconscious Mind: SPACE,” to tracks that make you want to shake your ass all night, like, “Buss Case” and “Big Belly Flow.” Expect the unexpected and enjoy the ride! To be fair, I think this song has a bit of that sonic spectrum…listen how it switches from a chill alt rib track into a club banger at the end.
What else can listeners look forward to seeing and hearing from you in the near future?
I’m contemplating creating a new ambient record. Given the current state of the world, I believe we could all benefit from meditative and restorative sounds. Stay tuned for more serene and healing flybrations.
