Earlier this year, we introduced you to KUIZZ, an artist, songwriter and producer from Kuala Lumpur who’s been busy making his solo breakthrough.
After dedicating much of his time to writing and producing for others, KUIZZ then set out to release his debut EP Till The End. The six-track self-produced offering garnered attention from media and pop music fans alike. However, it was his second single, ‘Uncool’, which impacted on music lovers the most. From amassing over 100,000 streams on Spotify, to being featured on Buzzfeed’s ‘June Playlist’ alongside Selena Gomez and Lana Del Rey – KUIZZ has proven to be one to watch in the industry.
Now, KUIZZ is back with another incredible track, and this time he’s teaming up with another of our favourites. ‘Silences’ features Haneri, the Singapore/LA based pop artist who wowed us with her single ‘Burning Up’ a few months ago. The songstress has enjoyed songwriting success after co-writing the #1 K-Pop song ‘Wave’ by R3hab X (AMBER+LUNA). Additionally she has featured on tracks by the likes of Paul Van Dyke, Avicii and Dash Berlin.
KUIZZ and Haneri initially met during a writing trip in Los Angeles whilst working on a few demos together to pitch for other artists. They met once more in Malaysia as Haneri dropped by Maveriq Studios to co-write and record a track which KUIZZ initially produced for another artist. The track in question was ‘Silences’, but the magic was so strong that KUIZZ felt that only Haneri truly brought the song to life.
‘Silences’ is a compelling pop track which hooks you in from the off. Whilst ‘Silences’ has a catchy vibe, the emotion of the song is never lost. Both Haneri and KUIZZ deliver emotive performances and we adore their voices together. We have high hopes that ‘Silences’ is going to be a hit for both artists. Speaking about the track, KUIZZ said: “‘Silences’ is about a relationship drifting apart caused by miscommunication and unspoken words.”
The track was released on all digital and streaming platforms yesterday, but we’re delighted to be premiering the official lyric video today. Designed by KUIZZ himself, he showcases his graphic design skills as well as his incredible vocal and production talent. With easy to read lyrics, bursts of colour and an out-of-this-world vibe, the lyric video is simply stunning.
