Here at CelebMix, we’re big fans of country music and we’re always on hand to share some of our favourite must-listen artists with you.
Macy Martin is an artist who has been performing for a number of years, and following the release of her album Find My Melody and a string of successful singles, she is ready to take on 2018 with her first new offering of the year.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Macy, her earliest musical memory dates back to when she was just six years old, where she entertained for the Miss America Organization’s Miss Texas pageant during their preliminary intermissions.
At 13, she began singing the National Anthem at her school’s sporting events which led to local businesses and organizations acknowledging her talent. She was later asked to perform at events for the likes of the Special Olympics, Texas Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House. Macy also joined Senior Chorale in high school, and quickly advanced to make Texas All State Division One as a first soprano.
2013 saw Macy release Just Beginning Vol. 1, covering songs by famous country writers. This was followed up by Vol. 2, featuring duets in the bluegrass and Celtic gospel songs. The two-volume collection led to Macy’s talent being discovered by legendary producer Kent Wells, who has worked with Dolly Parton.
Since then, Macy has released numerous singles and EPs, including ‘Me With You’, ‘Back To Reality’, ‘Heart Sleeve Soul’ and ‘Broke Down’. However, tomorrow the songstress will be releasing her infectious new offering ‘Take It Now’. Ahead of its release, we’ve got the exclusive premiere for your enjoyment.
‘Take It Now’ is an uptempo country track which is guaranteed to be ingrained in your head after just one listen. Armed with a strong banjo lick, the track is like a literal ball of energy and quite frankly, we never want it to end.
The uplifting offering, in Macy’s words, is about “taking that next step in a relationship as the voice in the song simply states ‘take my heart, my time, my kisses – take it now. The overall message is let’s jump in and do this. Which I really hope people can take away and apply not only to a relationship but in anything and everything that they want to and currently do.”
Speaking about the track, Macy said: “Every time I write with Bill DiLuigi and Heidi Raye, I leave with a song that I’m entirely proud of. ‘Take It Now’ was no exception. We came away with a song that I hope and believe many people can relate to.”
Macy also worked with prolific producer Kent Wells on the track. Speaking about the production process, she said: “When Kent and I started working together during the production phase the song took on the body that listeners will hear. We decided to speed it up a bit, then Kent put some really fun EDM and pop elements behind the track and tied it all together with a catchy banjo lick that just makes me smile.”
Without further ado, get ready to tap your feet and enjoy Macy Martin’s brand new single ‘Take It Now’ below.
If, like us, you’re currently smiling from ear to ear, then Macy’s succeeded in her mission. Speaking about her biggest hope with ‘Take It Now’, she said that she wanted it to “brighten people’s day and make them smile too. You can’t help but be happy when you have the windows rolled down and are singing at the top of your lungs on a beautiful day. Hopefully this is a song that everyone can sing right along to!”
It’s not just Macy’s music which brings a smile to people’s faces either. The songstress is a keen philanthropist and uses her platform to give back through her Macy’s Toy Box project. All year round, the project collects new or gently used toys to ensure that all children experience the joy she did as a child. Macy also released Tumbles the Bear, a stuffed bear that fans can purchase and keep or choose to donate back, with all proceeds going to purchasing new toys for the organization.
With a big voice and an even bigger heart, Macy Martin is destined for incredible things and we’re truly excited to see what she will achieve throughout 2018. Stay tuned to CelebMix for all the latest on this rising country star.
