When you hear the name Mike Watson you’re probably not aware of who he is, but you will soon be claiming you heard him first as he releases his debut single ‘Lying For Love’.
The Mancunian rising star who is now based in London cites The Eagles and Oasis amongst his biggest musical influences and his first single places him firmly at the heart of credi-pop. His YouTube cover videos have already won him an army of fans including celebrity admirers such as Anne-Marie, and Martin Garrix.
Although many UK fans are only now starting to get to know Mike Watson and his music, he has enjoyed major success in Japan as part of a previous project that saw him score a number 1 hit. He also toured across Europe and Asia and gained a mass fanbase. But he decided this was not the route for him. So he returned home to the UK and went back to the drawing board.
Since moving to London, Watson has teamed up with the production teams behind Little Mix, The Saturdays, and the Kaiser Chiefs. The rising star has also supported Maroon 5 and Magic! on the road.
Speaking about his debut single ‘Lying For Love’, Mike says: “I can’t wait for everyone to hear my first solo work. I’ve taken my time in the studio to craft a sound that really strikes a chord with me musically. What I really like about ‘Lying For Love’ is that although it’s personal to me and my experiences, anyone can relate to it in their own unique way. This is only the beginning and I’m really looking forward for what’s to come!”
