Tonia is an exciting rising talent from Detroit whom began her singing career collaboration with local Detroit musicians and producers before creating her first extended play titled Lift You Up.
The singer/songwriter’s strong voice developed early on and can be attributed to listening to local singing greats of the 80s and 90s. Her songwriting, a craft most sacred to her, is inspired by writers like Tracy Chapman, Alanis Morissette, Lauryn Hill. Through these influences, Tonia composes uplifting and powerful annotations of her life experiences through her music. She takes inspiration from her daily life and often takes notes on interesting observations she’s made throughout the day, which she reviews and uses for creative material with her guitar and diary.
And now she is back with her brand new EP ‘Lift You Up’. Speaking about the inspiration behind the new record, Tonia says: “I started writing these songs as a way to express and heal myself during tough times. My hope is that listeners relate and that these songs inspire and uplift, just as they’ve done for me”
