Someya is a San Jose based Alt-Pop artist who is gearing up for the release of her brand new single ‘You Saved Me’. Lyrically the track comes across as both haunting and intimate and is a perfect introduction to the rising star’s attentive songwriting (which she has been doing since the age of 5) and delicate vocals.
Over the years songwriting has become an outlet Someya to vent about real life experience through her music. The singer draws a lot of her musical influence from Halsey, stating “she breaks boundaries and does her own thing, no matter what others say, creating a safe space for her fans to relate to each other and be themselves.”
Speaking about her new single ‘You Saved Me’, Someya says: “This song is one of my happier songs, although it might sound like otherwise. It’s a love song about being in a taboo relationship but also feeling saved by her lover. She’s saved from the darkness inside herself. In the song, because the relationship is taboo, there’s a sense of it being about everyone’s expectations. There’s an intimacy to it because they don’t care about what anyone thinks of them. The overall mood of the song is dark, haunting, and intimate. This song was actually inspired by a book I read where I was super unsatisfied about the ending and I created a romance between the two characters because they hadn’t ended up together.”
