This October Canadian born, Nashville based country music singer/songwriter Tebey will be making his long-awaited UK debut thanks to his much-anticipated appearance at the C2C’s Country Music Week for the Country Hits Radio hub. The rising star will also be heading to Germany for a select number of dates alongside US sensation Scotty McCreery.
Hi Tebey, congratulations on announcing your first UK shows, how excited are you that the news is out there now?
I’m very excited. I have a love affair with the UK. My grandparents are English (from Norwich), so it’s definitely in my blood.
This will be your first trip to the UK, what are you expecting from the British audience?
I’m not sure, to be honest. I’m hoping they’re at least a little familiar with my music. It’s always easier performing to a crowd that knows your songs.
The country scene is growing rapidly in the UK, are there any Brit acts you’d like to work with?
I’d love to sit down and do some writing with The Shires. They’re great, and have done a lot to grow country music in the UK! I’ve also written with Twinnie in the past.
What can the British fans expect from your live set?
A lot of energy and interaction. I love to interact with the fans as much as possible.
Do you expect the UK audiences to be more involved than you’re used to?
I honestly have no idea what to expect from these shows. I’m very curious if UK audiences are different from Canadian or American. I guess I’ll find out!
How did the Country Music Week slots come about?
I came over to London earlier in the year for C2C. I wanted to introduce myself to as many music industry people in the UK as possible. I eventually signed with ITB for booking in the UK and they were able to put these shows together.
Can we expect a UK headline tour from you soon?
Definitely. This first run of shows is all about introducing myself to British country music fans. I would definitely like to be back to headline my own shows in the future.
Are there any landmarks you’re looking to visit while you’re over here?
I actually lived in London for a short while, so I’m very familiar with that city’s landmarks. Every time I’m over I really enjoy just walking the streets and taking in the vibe. I’ve never been to the north of England, so hopefully, I can find time to do that.
Along with the Country Music Week shows, what else can we expect from you this year?
I’m releasing a new single called ‘The Good Ones’ in a few weeks. It’s a duet with Canadian pop star Marie Mai. The video was shot last month in Connecticut and is just EPIC. I can’t wait for everyone to see it.
You’ll also be joining Scotty McCreery in Germany, how excited are you to be joining him on stage?
Very excited. I like Scotty’s music a lot, and I’ve never seen him live.
