Today at CelebMix, we’re bringing you a gorgeous slice of soul music. Introducing independent Scottish singer-songwriter emaé, who released her new single ‘Better’ today.
emaé has been making music for a number of years now. Her debut single ‘Something Beautiful’ was released in 2015, showcasing her stunning mix of feel good soul-pop. The track received critical acclaim all over the world, including recognition from MTV The Wrap Up and Soulbounce USA. Its accompanying cinematic visual was directed by Lee Jones (Jessie J, Tinie Tempah, Rita Ora), shot by Sam Pearce (Kate Nash, Rizzle Kicks) and was featured on VEVO’s front page.
In 2016, emaé released her acoustic EP Imperfect Words which garnered support from BBC 6 Music and opened up an opportunity for her to support Adia Victoria in the UK. During that year, she was also nominated by Gospel Touch Music for the Critics Choice Awards.
With 2017 comes new music. ‘Better’ acts as the first single from emaé’s highly anticipated debut album. Teaming up with audio and mastering engineers Mark Allaway (Newton Faulkner, Jess Glynne) and Alex Balzama for the making of this song, ‘Better’ is a captivating yet raw ballad which showcases emaé’s ability to write truly personal songs.
Speaking about the song, emaé said: “‘Better’ is the song for right now, it 100% reflects where I’ve been the last year and also where I’m going. It’s a song of resilience, confidence and certainty. It’s a song I’m extremely proud of.”
