We recently had a chat with X Factor: The Band winners, Real Like You, we spoke to girls about how it feels to win the show and what they have planned for 2020.
Congratulations on winning X Factor: The Band! How does it feel to have won?
KelliMarie: It feels great!
Jess: It’s so amazing. We’re all very shocked and very surprised because the boys were so talented as well, but were just excited now.
The whole night must have felt very surreal, but can you remember any standout moments from it, such as a performance you really enjoyed?
Halle: In terms of energy from the audience, definitely the more up-tempo ones like ‘Problem’ we really enjoyed. The opening was really cool because we came down off of this massive platform, and it was the first opportunity to show everyone what we’re about. A standout moment out of the whole night was definitely singing the winning song, and all of our family coming up and celebrating with us because it just reminded us how much it means to us.
Sia: Yeah 100%
What can we expect from you music-wise in the future, will you be writing some of your own songs?
Jess: In the future, I think that we will definitely be writing some of our own songs. Especially after Christmas, we will be getting together and properly-getting our heads down, and thinking about what sort of music we want to make. We just want to create the best music possible.
What made you all audition for the show?
Luena: I think for me I was doing nothing, I was just chilling and I was like you know what? I’m going to try this because I want my life to change. I auditioned because I just really wanted to see how it was going to be. I’ve always wanted to be in a group as well because I’ve always felt lonely when I’ve been doing my solo stuff so yeah it definitely did stand out to me and I definitely wanted to do it.
Jess: I think for me I just thought it was stupid not to when I saw it advertised, I thought what’s the point in not going for it, even if it’s just for the experience of the audition process. I knew that I wanted to go into the music industry, I knew that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, so for me it was just a no brainer to give it a go and see what happened.
What venue would you love to sell out?
All: Wembley deffo or 02
How would you describe your sound as a band?
Halle: Unique, Individual
Sia: Powerful, Different
KelliMarie: Real, Mixed
If you could collaborate with any artist who would it be and why?
Virgina: I think collaborating with a solo artist would be better because I reckon if we collab with a group it would be a 10 piece girl band and I reckon it would hurt your ears, haha! But I feel like someone different like Chance The Rapper. I don’t think I’ve seen him Collaborate with a group before so I reckon that would be quite cool and he’s got like such a cool voice and its different. I mean we’ve got to work hard for that, but I’d love for that to happen.
Sia: Me personally, I’d love to collab with Burna Boy because I think that afro sound is sick, and mixed with our style would just be amazing. I love him so much!
What do you have planned for 2020?
Jess: We want to get in writing with each other. I think we just want to have fun with this; we’ve been given this incredible opportunity and we’ve worked so hard to get here so what’s the point if we’re not enjoying ourselves now and appreciating every moment we have? So yeah it’s really exciting; I think 2020 is going to be hopefully a really fun year.
Luena: We just want to start our journey, try to take over the world and work hard to be one of the biggest girl bands!
