We all like to take inspiration from our favourite celebrities, especially when it comes to fashion and beauty. But what trends are taking off right now, and which makeup techniques and fashion pieces should you be trying out if you want to look your best? Below, we give you the lowdown!

    Do your eyebrows like Rihanna

Rihanna has never been one to shy away from her fashion and beauty, releasing her own makeup and clothing lines to boot. But one of her most recent trends has caused shockwaves through the industry, with the What’s My Name singer sporting new ultra-fine eyebrows. It’s a huge change from the beauty world’s norm of full, thick eyebrows, and it’s caused many to think about the future of their makeup. This trend may not be for everyone, but it’s certainly going to become a more common technique as fans of the singer try out the style themselves.

Buy a necklace like Rita Ora

Rita Ora has been a fashion icon since she entered the industry almost ten years ago, and one of her staple pieces is a named necklace sporting RITA on it. It’s a necklace that she wears in every photo shoot and during every live performance without fail, and it gives her a unique identity that’s relatable to teenagers and young women who want a beautiful role model.

The best part is that you can follow Rita’s trend and design your own unique jewellery from a website such as JoulouJewelry, and it’s really not very expensive to do so. You could get your own name turned into a necklace or the name of a loved one like a partner or lost relative.

Go back to basics like Lady Gaga

While Lady Gaga is known for her outlandish costumes and incredible fashion sense, her 2016 album Joanne was the first time she stripped back and let us see what she was really like. The star used the campaign to introduce a subtle new fashion style, wearing the same black crop top throughout the promotion of her new album – even wearing the outfit in her Perfect Illusion clip.

Lady Gaga shows that, while it’s great to go over the top and wear an awesome outfit once in a while, it’s what’s on the inside that counts, and a more stripped-back style can work in your favour.

Forget about makeup like Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys has one of the world’s most recognisable voices, but unlike some of today’s pop stars, she’s built her career on her voice alone rather than using her appearance to help her get ahead. The star wrote a letter in 2016 ahead of the release of her album, announcing that she was going to stop wearing makeup and embrace a more natural lifestyle. |”Every time I left the house, I would be worried if I didn’t put on makeup,” she said in her essay to Lenny.

“What if someone wanted a picture?? What if they POSTED it??? These were the insecure, superficial, but honest thoughts I was thinking. And all of it, one way or another, was based too much on what other people thought of me. I found my way to meditation, and I started focusing on clarity and a deeper knowing of myself. I focused on cultivating strength and conviction and put a practice in place to learn more about the real me.”

Alicia is a true inspiration to people who really don’t have the time nor inclination to conform to what society thinks is beautiful, and in that, she’s created her own genre of natural beauty.
