Girl band Fifth Harmony sure have an exciting time coming up! They’re getting ready to release their second album ‘7/27’ in two weeks time (27th May so set those alarms!)
The American group, consisting of members Ally Brooke Hernandez, Lauren Jauregui, Camila Cabello, Normani Kordei Hamilton and Dinah Jane Hansen, have been working on their sophomore record since late last year. The album follows their debut ‘Reflection’ and is said to be ‘a bit more soulful’, a ‘more R&B’ sound and a ‘new era’ for the band.
The album is named after the day they were formed on The X Factor USA back in 2012. The lead single from ‘7/27’ was ‘Work From Home’ and featured American singer Ty Dolla Sign. It became their highest charting single in the United States and reached the top 10 in 18 other countries.
They all look like absolute bodacious babes on the album artwork
Compared to ‘Reflection’ Lauren says that all five of them were more involved in the album lyrically. It features guest vocals from Fetty Wap, Missy Elliott, (who has also featured on Little Mix’s ‘How Ya Doin?’ and, as previously mentioned’ Ty Dolla Sign.
In preparation for the release date, the girls released two promotional singles from the album.
‘The Life’ is an instant summer banger. It has an upbeat production, with a drop building to a purely pop chorus. The song makes you feel like you are floating on a summer breeze.
‘Write On Me’ is much slower compared to their previous hits and is probably classed as more of a ballad. Camila states the song as lyrically her favourite on the album. To her, she says, the song is an extended metaphor where you’re asking somebody to “write” on you, envelop you with their words, make their mark on you like you’re a blank canvas.
We personally cannot wait to hear the full album. We just know its going to be insane! Why does two weeks feel like a lifetime away?
Fifth Harmony have grown stronger musically in their nearly 4 years together and their time is now as they’ll jump aboard the promo train as soon as the record is released. But that also means new appearances, new outfits and new performances. We won’t be able to cope!
