There’s nothing particularly quiet about Finn Forster’s latest offering. The Teesside-born singer-songwriter returns with ‘Blame It On You’, a rousing, guitar-driven release that takes the emotional wreckage of a relationship breakdown and gives it an altogether more anthemic edge.

Fuelled by Forster’s unmistakably raw, soulful vocals, the track navigates the shifting territory between blame, accountability and self-reflection. But while its subject matter might be rooted in heartbreak, this is no conventional breakup ballad. Instead, Forster trades melancholy for infectious hooks, big energy and a chorus that refuses to sit quietly in the background.
“‘Blame It On You’ is a song that follows the breakdown of a relationship I had,” he explains. “Moving through blame and accountability. I wanted to tell a raw and honest story but not through the style of a traditional sad break up song. It’s cool, hooky and anthemic and meant to be played loud.”
The release arrives following a busy few months for the rising artist, who has been making his presence felt on the festival circuit, with appearances at TRNSMT, Boardmasters and the Isle of Wight Festival among his summer highlights.
Previous single release ‘Strangers’ helped set the wheels in motion, picking up support from BBC Radio 1, where Jack Saunders delivered its first play, and BBC Radio 1 Introducing…, which named it Track of the Week. BBC Radio 2 and Radio X also added the track to their playlists.
Away from the airwaves, Forster took his biggest headline tour to date on the road, with an almost completely sold-out run taking in Glasgow, York, Manchester and London, where he headlined Hoxton’s Colours.
With ‘Blame It On You’, he continues to build on that momentum, leaning into the collision of soulful storytelling and bigger, bolder rock-leaning sonics that are beginning to define his sound.
There’s more road ahead, too. Forster is set to join New York rock artist Des Rocs as special guest on the UK and European leg of his headline tour this October. Kicking off at Manchester’s Gorilla on October 10th, the run will also take in London’s The Garage, alongside dates in Hamburg, Berlin, Amsterdam, Prague, Budapest, Cologne and Paris, before wrapping up at Milan’s Lime Club on October 23rd.
