When the first teaser trailer premiered for the live-action version of “Aladdin,” fans only got a glimpse of what Aladdin looked like. Now, Entertainment Weekly revealed pictures for the cast, including Genie and Jasmine.

Director Guy Ritchie had big shoes to fill when it came to casting, especially for the Genie. Robin Williams debuted as the genie in the 1992 animated version and he stole the show from the movie’s main characters. Now, Will Smith has some big shoes to fill for this role.

Here is a quick look at the genie and Aladdin.

Ritchie states, “The great thing about the role of the Genie is that it’s essentially a hyperbole for who that individual actor is, so it’s a wonderful platform and tapestry for an actor to fill his boots on.” Smith will make it his own.

He is adorned in blue and gold garb with the classic Genie beard and hair. Smith recorded his version of “Friend Like Me” and gave it a bit of that “Fresh Prince” vibe. Fans have to wait to see him in his blue floating lamp form.

Aladdin is played by Men Massoud, a Canadian actor. His costume is true to the original “street rat.” We can’t wait for his Prince Ali outfit.

Naomi Scott is taking over the role of Princess Jasmine. Her classic blue and gold outfit is making a comeback. We also see her street look when she is in disguise at the market.

Jasmine is set to get a solo song, something that wasn’t featured in the original. It will be composed by Disney veteran composer Alan Menken. Jasmine will also have a female counterpart, Dalia, her best friend and handmaiden.

We can’t wait to see what Jafar and the rest of the cast look like and for the movie.

Aladdin will premiere on May 24, 2019. You can watch the trailer below.
