We’ve been listening to Harry Styles’ debut album for almost two weeks now and we’ve picked our favorites (like, all of them, okay?) and from those songs, tried to pick out our favorite lyrics. Each song on the album tells a story, and it’s different for everyone who hears them, depending on what you’re going through currently or what you’ve been through in the past.
Songs like ‘Meet Me In The Hallway’ and ‘From The Dining Table’ make us miss someone, or maybe miss the times we had with someone – whether they were good or bad. Songs like ‘Carolina’ and ‘Kiwi’ make us want to dance, drive, get away, and immerse ourselves in the lyrics. ‘Sign Of The Times’ makes us emotional while ‘Two Ghosts’ actually breaks our hearts a little bit. ‘Only Angel’ was not the song we were expecting it to be – in a good way and ‘Sweet Creature’ still gives us butterflies.
We picked five of our favorite lyrics from the album and listed them for you
Meet Me In The Hallway
We don’t talk about it
It’s something we don’t do
Cause once you go without it
Nothing else will do
From The Dining Table
We haven’t spoke since you went away
Comfortable silence is so overrated
Why won’t you ever be the first one to break?
Even my phone misses your call, by the way
Woman
I’m selfish I know
But I don’t ever want to see you with him
I’m selfish I know
I told you but I know you never listen
I hope you can see
The shape that I’m in
While he’s touching your skin
He’s right where I should
Where I should be
But you’re making me bleed
Only Angel
Open up your eyes, shut your mouth and see
That I’m still the only one who’s been in love with me
I’m just happy getting you stuck in between my teeth
And there’s nothing I can do about it
Two Ghosts
Same lips red, same eyes blue
Same white shirt, couple more tattoos
But it’s not you, and it’s not me
Tastes so sweet, looks so real
Sounds like something that I used to feel
But I can’t touch what I see
If you need us, we’ll just be channeling Anne and hoping that Harry feels just a fraction of the pride and support we’re sending him.
