Maybe it’s starting to become a thing for artists to give next to no warning when they release new material. David Bowie has done it, Beyoncé has done it, and now singer, performance artist and avant garde producer FKA Twigs has seemingly joined the club.
Consisting of five tracks amidst a graphic sixteen minute short film, M3LL155X EP was dropped on Thursday to a sea of stunned reactions. It features previously heard singles “Glass & Patron” that came out in March of this year, and “Figure 8” which was played as a part of DJ Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show a few weeks ago.
The music video you could very well say is a treat for the eyes, filled with all kinds of visuals from a fake pregnancy bump, to Twigs being used as a plastic sex doll (I did say it was graphic!) to some pretty slick choreography during the “In Time” segment of the film.
This is FKA’s third musical offering, having had her debut EP1 birthed in 2012 and her follow up LP1 in August of 2014. Poetic and rammed with gritty imagination, this is definitely worth a watch! Make sure to comment down below!
