Networks CBS and The CW yesterday announced that there will in fact be a The Flash/Supergirl crossover as Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) heads to National City as the Scarlet Speedster in the upcoming March 28th Supergirl episode, airing on American network CBS.
However in midst of all the excitement, details about the episode have been kept secret and there has been no word on whether other stars of The Flash will make an appearance. It has also not been confirmed whether or not Melissa Bonoist will make an appearance in Central City in the future.
In a statement made by Supergirl and The Flash executive producers, Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg thanked fans for both their continuous support for both shows and the enthusiasm they have shown towards a crossover of this kind. They then went on to say, “We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we starting making Supergirl – The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up!”
Since Supergirl’s premier a few months ago, there has been many speculations on whether or not a crossover between The Flash and Supergirl would be possible. It was well known knowledge that a crossover of this kind would be difficult to pull off because of the location of both shows – The Flash films in Vancouver while Supergirl shoots in L.A., but that didn’t seem to bother The Flash’s star and everyone’s favourite superhero, Grant Gustin. Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti made sure to thank him in their statement made to the public: “We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit and all of the folks at CBS, The CW, Warner Bros., and DC for working this out.”
