The intro theme song to the ’90s TV show “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” remains one of the most iconic of its kind, loved by fans all around the world. It’s just one reason why a reboot of the American sitcom would be so thrilling to see.
Yes, you heard us right. DJ Jazzy Jeff, record producer and rap partner of Will Smith, confirmed that there have been conversations about rebooting the show as a tribute to the good ol’ days.

Of course, a revival of the show wouldn’t quite be the same as before. It would be missing James Avery, who played Uncle Phil; Avery sadly passed away on New Years’ Eve 2013 during open heart surgery. In addition, “Fresh Prince” ended over 20 years ago, and while a reboot sounds amazing in theory, would it still resonate the same to a now-older audience along with new, younger viewers?
Jazzy told The Sun, the biggest issue “was really about Will’s (movie) schedule and freeing up the time”.
So while speculation is still underway, one can rest assured with Jazzy Jeff’s remarks that a reboot remains a possibility, at the very least.
One can also take comfort in the fact that the cast is still on good terms with one another. Will Smith and his costars Alfonso Ribeiro, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Daphne Reid and Joseph Marcell –– who played Carlton, Ashley, Hilary, Vivien and Geoffrey respectively –– were all spotted in March eating at Nobu, a classy Japanese restaurant in Malibu.

Whatever “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” has planned for the future –– reboot or not –– know that CelebMix will be there to cover it. But until then, we will be happily watching reruns of Will and the rest of the Bel-Air gang’s shenanigans.
Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith will be making their UK live performance debut later this month when they perform together at Livewire Festival (August 25-27).
