It may only be March but we here at CelebMix have most definitely already put on our dancing shoes. We simply cannot wait for the festival season to finally start. Just thinking about the sunshine, the dancing with all of our friends, the good live music, the DJs we might be able to see- it really gets us excited for summer to finally come along.
Luckily, we do not have to wait until June or July in order to start partying as the Miami Music Week is hosting its annual array of festivities starting March 20th to March 25th. Along with it, visitors get the chance to attend Nicky Romero’s infamous showcase, hosted by his record label Protocol.
Of course, the veteran DJ will not come without bearing gifts. As usual, he will bring out some of his famous friends. The line-up so far consists of him, Breathe Carolina, D.O.D, Disco Fries and many many more. Further artists will be announced in the near future but, hold onto your seats, there will also be special, unannounced guest performances. Past surprise performances at Protocol included greats such as David Guetta, Martin Garrix as well as Armin Van Buuren.
In case you cannot wait until the end of March, Protocol Recordings has put out two EPs as part of their “Protocol Vibes” series to get you into the mood. The featured songs serve as a guide to your upcoming musical experiences at the show. And let us tell you: those experiences might be one of a kind.
Just take a look at the songs on the sampler EPs. The motto for this year’s event seems to be: “The bigger the better”, musical-wise as well as artist-wise. Instead of focusing solely on progressive house tracks, the samplers now include a broad mixture of all kinds of styles. You get vocal and non-vocal tracks, some featuring hard-hitting electronic bass lines (such as “Hard Knock”), others moving more into the deep house direction (“No Rush”), while some even incorporate some old-school hip-hop vibes (“Boogie Monstah”).
Sometimes groovy, sometimes relaxed, sometimes taking you into full-on party mode, this year’s Protocol vibes mix will definitely hit a lot of people’s taste palette. Check out the playlist down below and get your first glimpse of what is about to go down.
If you want a visual teaser of the Protocol festivities, you can also check out the Aftermovie on Nicky Romero’s YouTube channel.
