After four years from when it first came out, the sequel to the remake of the Swedish franchise, ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ has since surfaced again. Sony are said to be rebooting the franchise with Alicia Vikander, star of futuristic sci-fi thriller ‘Ex Machina’, in the role of anti-heroine Lisbeth Salander. The sequel will be bereft of original stars Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig. David Fincher, the director of the original remake of ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ is said to be out of the picture, as well. The writer, Steven Zaillian, wrote a script for The Girl Who Played With Fire, but it was apparently ‘too expensive’ to make.

In accordance with some sources, there have been plans to jump forward to the fourth novel in the Millenium saga, The Girl In The Spider’s Web, which was written after Stieg Larsson passed away.
Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) is in talks with Sony to adapt it. Here’s hoping it will live up to the standard of the Oscar winning first ‘Tattoo’.
