After three seasons and a total of 69 episodes, the Girl Meets World writers have confirmed that the show has officially been cancelled.

The show focused on the life of Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard), daughter of Corey (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) from the original ’90s show Boy Meets World.

“It is with incredible pride in our work and complete sadness that things end, that I report to this wonderful audience that our show is over,” the account tweeted. “I just officially got the call, and would like to thank this audience for its incredible love and loyalty. Please watch our January episodes. We leave you with three incredible souvenirs of a show we couldn’t be more proud of. As I look back I can tell you with absolute certainty — we gave you our best.”

The announcement comes just a few weeks after Rider Strong – a cast member from Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World – said in a podcast that the show had ended.

After the official announcement, Blanchard went on Twitter and posted an emotional response to the cancellation. Read her full post here.

“I have tried to go in and write this many times, in preparation for this moment I feared might come,” she writes. “Being on Girl Meets World is the most significant event in my life thus far. It changed absolutely every aspect of it, and takes up most of the life I am able to remember.”

“It is with this cast family I experienced mourning and heartbreak and overjoyment and long days that turned into long nights, each and every moment so painstakingly beautiful.”

Yes, we were making a show, but our lives turned into a movie.

“As for you, well I don’t know where to begin, I am so honored to call you our audience. You allowed a dream to breathe. You have given us so much, you give so much, and for that we genuinely will never be able to repay you.”

I love you. I love this cast. I love this crew. I love Riley. I love this world we made. I love that it is now your world.

The final episodes of Girl Meets World will air on January 5, 13, and 20 at 6 p.m. ET on Disney Channel.
