In her interview with Rolling Stone, Halsey shared a very personal story about her miscarriage.
Halsey said that she found out she was expecting during her 2015 Badlands tour, months before her first album debuted. She remembers thinking, “What happens? Do I lose my record deal? Do I lose everything? Or do I keep [the pregnancy]? What are the fans going to think? What are the moms going to think? What is the Midwest going to think? What’s f*cking everyone going to think?”
A few hours before her show in Chicago, she started bleeding from the waist down. She immediately wanted to cancel the show, but decided to go ahead with it. Halsey then asked her assistant to buy her adult diapers and then took two Percocets.
She states, “It’s the angriest performance that I’ve ever done in my life.” After her show ended, Halsey went into the parking lot and got sick.
Halsey explains that her miscarriage was likely due to being overworked. The singer says that she ended up in the hospital a lot because she was dehydrated and fainting frequently.
Although she went through a difficult time, Halsey still has hopes for the future. She states, “I want to be a mom more than I want to be a pop star. More than I want to be anything in the world.”
When the Rolling Stone interview released, Halsey received hate comments on social media regarding her miscarriage.
Fans immediately fought back with the hashtag, #ProudofHalsey, where fans shared their support for the singer.
Wow I'm speechless, she had so much strength to go on stage and perform to fans whilst dealing with something so traumatic #proudofhalsey
