Hold onto your hats! Disney announced today that there will be a fifth Indiana Jones movie and yes, it will star Harrison Ford.
TheWaltDisneyCompany.com has released a statement today announcing that Steven Spielberg, who has directed the last four Indiana Jones films, will be directing the fifth movie. Disney also announced the all important news, which had fans worrying, that Harrison Ford will be taking on the popular role of archaeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones, once again. Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall, who are producers for the previous films will be producing the new movie.
The Indiana Jones franchise first started in 1981 with the release of Raiders of the Lost Ark followed by Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in 1984, then Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989 and following that Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 2008.
Rumours were circulating early last year that Chris Pratt would be starring as Indiana Jones in a franchise reboot, after his performance in Jurassic World, which upset fans of the long running action and adventure film series. The rumours were added to when in February of last year Steven Spielberg said that he was hoping to direct Chris Pratt in an Indiana Jones reboot. So fans will be very happy to hear the news of Harrison Ford’s return!
The film collection has done very well in the past making an enormous amount of money previously. The last film in the collection was Kingdom of the Crystal Skull which was released on the 22nd May 2008, starring Shia LeBeouf and Cate Blanchett. Disney are hoping that the movie will be released in July 2019. To quote Indie himself, “I’m like a bad penny, I always show up” although, we don’t think this is a bad penny, more like a lucky one!
