Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson have claimed this week’s UK number one single and album respectively.
Harry tops this week’s UK Singles Chart with his latest offering ‘Aperture’, whilst Louis is number one on the UK Albums Chart with his third offering How Did I Get Here?. This marks the first ever post-One Direction chart double. As a group, One Direction achieved the chart double back in 2012 when ‘Little Things’ and Take Me Home hit the top spot on the Official Singles and Albums Chart concurrently.
Speaking on this latest bit of chart history, Martin Talbot, Chief Executive Officer, Official Charts, said: “It’s precisely 15 years this year since One Direction topped the Official Singles Chart for the first time with ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ and, after Robbie Williams last week demonstrated how enduring our pop-group-member-turned-solo-stars can be, it is fantastic to see Harry and Louis topping the Official Charts again this week. A reminder (if we ever needed one) of the timeless appeal of arguably the world’s favourite 21st Century boy band.”
‘Aperture’ is Harry’s third solo UK number one single, and is the lead single from his forthcoming album Kiss All The Time. Disco Occasionally. The global sensation recently announced a huge seven-city Together, Together residency, which will include a record-breaking 12 nights at London’s Wembley Stadium.
How Did I Get Here? is Louis’ second number one solo album, following on from his 2022 release Faith in the Future. Speaking exclusively to Official Charts on the triumph, Louis said: “I can’t quite believe I’m saying this, but How Did I Get Here is this week’s Official Number 1 album. I’m so incredibly grateful for all the passion and dedication of the fans to help make it all possible. THANK YOU!”
Louis has an exciting year ahead as he will be embarking on the How Did We Get Here? tour, taking place across the UK, Europe and North America. The tour kicks off in Hamburg on March 23.
