Hilary Duff is speaking out about those extremely uncomfortable commercials she filmed during her days as Lizzie McGuire.
In a recent interview with PopSugar, the former child star revealed that those wand-waving promos were as painful to shoot as they were for us to watch.
“So many people were like ‘Oh, my gosh, this is the most awkward thing ever,” Duff recalled. “They put all the animation in later, so you’re just, like, having to imagine that it’s real. And you do it one-hundred times in a million different ways. All of us were, like, kids working adult hours so I’m sure we were, like, kind of fed up.”
Late last year, the behind-the-scenes footage first surfaced on the Internet. Duff, along with a handful of other Disney sensations such as Raven-Symone the Mowry twins were caught waving glow sticks around while repeatedly reciting lines read off of cue cards.
The 29-year-old actress also spoke about the criticism she received weeks later after posting an Instagram where she is seen kissing her son Luca on the lips. She said couldn’t keep quiet pertaining to the negative comments that flooded her social media.
“There’s been so many times throughout my career that I’ve felt judged or people have misconstrued what I’ve said. Or, said something that wasn’t true about me,” she explained. “This was so annoying to me. I couldn’t even believe it. Without even talking to my publicist, I was like, ‘This is ridiculous.’ And if anyone thinks that this looks bad or is inappropriate in any way, like, unfollow me immediately.”
“This is my child,” Duff added. “He’s edible to me. He’s so yummy. He’s four. It made me sad for kids that don’t kiss their kids.”
Duff currently has role on TVLand’s series Younger. The show’s fourth season is slated to air on June 28.
