Fresh from a wildly successful run of UK arena shows, Hilary Duff is making her presence felt once again today (October 2nd) with the release of ‘CATastrophe’, an original new song written for THE CAT IN THE HAT – Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s upcoming fantasy adventure loosely inspired by Dr. Seuss’ beloved 1957 children’s book.

Written by Hilary alongside Matthew Koma, Madison Love, and Brian Phillips, and produced by Koma and Phillips, the quirky track – described as the film’s “emotional anchor” – was first heard in a new trailer for the movie, which debuted earlier today.
Commenting on the single, Duff says via a press release: “Dr. Seuss was on repeat in our house for years, so when this came around I didn’t have to think about it. ‘CATastrophe’ is about that feeling when your whole world gets picked up and moved somewhere else and nobody asks you first. I wanted it to be honest about those feelings, and still be something you’d turn all the way up in the car.”
Watch the songs accompanying music video – which brings the Seussian aesthetic to life, following Duff as she moves through a series of “whimsical, oversized worlds and seamlessly folds them into her own environment” – below:
‘CATastrophe’ features on THE CAT IN THE HAT (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), which is set to be released Friday, October 30th 2026 via WaterTower Music.
The album features a score by GRAMMY Award-winning composer Lorne Balfe, Duff’s original single, and ‘The Cat in the Hat Theme Song’ written by Tim Minchin and performed by FITZ & Tim Minchin featuring Bill Hader.
