HoodTrophy Bino is a rising force in the hip-hop community signed with Soulja Boy’s Stacks On Deck Money Gang label, but above all, he’s a father trying to break the vicious cycle of generational trauma. With Father’s Day on the horizon, HoodTrophy Bino is considering all the ways that fatherhood has influenced his music and shaped him as an individual.
HoodTrophy Bino learned to navigate a world full of violence, crime, and loss without his dad. His father was sent to San Quentin when Bino was only 3; leaving Bino to witness the deaths of many close friends while he was still just a kid. There are moments from HoodTrophy Bino’s childhood – scoring a touchdown at the football game – that he wishes he could have shared with his father.
He uses this lost relationship with his own dad to motivate his drive and determination for his children. HoodTrophy Bino admits, “Everything I do is for my kids. My grind is for them. As long as I’m alive – they’ll want for nothing. Most of all, I try to be there with them day in, day out.” When he’s not making music, HoodTrophy Bino devotes his purpose to his family; making Father’s Day a reason to celebrate.
