Nowadays there are a ton of ways artists can upload their music in order to promote their band for free. Because let’s face it, if you’re a band trying to get noticed, you need all the money you can in order to travel to gigs, create merch, develop your music into physical copies, and more. You really don’t want to spend money in order to get your music out there.

Some of the obvious and fun social media outlets you can upload music and share it for free are on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and even Instagram and Snapchat if you know how to do it correctly. But you can also professionally share your music for free are by using websites like IndieSound, YouTube, Last.fm, BandCamp, and SoundCloud.

On popular websites like IndieSound, artists can upload music, promote their band, connect, share, and explore with a group of other artists. Musicians are able to expand their audience to other people who love and appreciate music, as well as meet others in the industry. Once these musicians upload their music, they’re able to connect and expand with their audience by sharing their links to Facebook, Twitter, personal blogs, and more.

YouTube is a popular outlet because it’s one of the biggest video sharing sites in the world, but it’s also a place that users go to listen to music online. Whenever you hear a song, what do you do? You probably either Google it or go straight to YouTube. So joining the bandwagon is always a plus. By using YouTube, your fans can easily share your video to social media in a few simple clicks.

Last.fm is another way to share your music for free. Last.fm is one of the original music discovery sites. The website listens to what you are listening to each day in order to understand what to recommend to you. So your band may be one of those suggested artists for people to check out.

BandCamp is also a good music website. They describe themselves as the “home for your music online.” And this seems to be true because a lot of bands use BandCamp as a way for their fans to listen to their music. What makes this site so special is that only the fact that you can listen to music, you can even download tracks! This is either done by donating whatever amount you want to pay for the track or sometimes giving your email address in order to get the track.

SoundCloud is another great website to share your music. It’s like YouTube but for Mp3s. By using this website, listeners can easily hear or download your music for free and share it. While uploading to SoundCloud, you even have the option to make your link private, that way you can only share your work to just the people you want to hear it.

When you’re using social media as well as websites like IndieSound, YouTube, Last.fm, BandCamp, and SoundCloud, to share your music, the possibilities are endless. You may just become the next big thing that the music industry has yet to discover.
