Hugh Jackman took to social media on Monday to reveal that he was treated once again for skin cancer. Jackman, 47, posted a post-op picture on Instagram and pleaded with fans to use sunscreen and to receive regular check-ups.
The Australian actor was first treated for Basal cell carcinoma back in 2013 and was treated again in 2014. Jackman shared similar post-op pictures both times, using Instagram to deliver the same message, urging fans to wear sunscreen and get checked.
Basal cell carcinoma, or BCC, is a very common type of skin cancer, affecting over 3 million in the US each year.
Understandably passionate about the subject, Jackman launched Pure Sun Defense in 2015, a brand that provides sunscreen products designed for children. He notes, “Sun protection wasn’t as prominent for my generation and it’s important we emphasize its value for the next.”
Jackman stars in Eddie the Eagle, which is set to be released later this month.
