On 20th September p1harmony made a comeback with their brand new mini-album “SAD SONG”. Marking their 7th Mini-album, “SAD SONG”, takes listeners on a compelling journey through the complex feelings of loneliness and the power of positivity. Known for their energetic performances and genre-blending sound, the six-member group continues to carve out a unique space in the K-Pop landscape.
In an interview with CelebMix, the members shared insights into the story behind “SAD SONG,” revealing how their personal experiences shaped the album. “The inspiration behind our visuals and everything about ‘SAD SONG’ is rooted in the superhero theme we’ve explored since our debut,” they explained. This time, however, they wanted to focus on the quieter moments that follow a heroic act. “We wanted to tell a story about the loneliness a superhero feels after a long day, even after achieving great things.” As P1harmony reflected on their musical direction, Keeho emphasized their desire to push boundaries.
“Whenever we release new music, we’re always seeking sonic challenges. We want to discover different sounds and push our limits.” This exploration of sound is evident in “SAD SONG,” where the group seamlessly blends various genres to create an album that feels both fresh and familiar. The title track, also named “SAD SONG,” captures the essence of their message. Its upbeat yet introspective tone invites listeners to connect with their own experiences of sadness and resilience.
Every great song is inspired by something or a love for a specific genre. Jiung enthusiastically discussed how the members enjoy a wide range of music adding “when we got the songs, when we got the demo for Sad Song’s English version, it was just so hand in hand perfect because it was the genre that we were very into.”
“When we received the demo for ‘SAD SONG,’ it aligned perfectly with our musical interests,” Keeho shared, highlighting their collaborative spirit. Despite their success, the members remain grounded, often reflecting on the emotional toll that performing can take. “an artist receives so much love and energy from their fans that once they’re stepping away from it and feel that all of it has been taken away”. All the members nodded in agreement as Keeho expressed this.
“Sometimes it feels surreal” noted Keeho. “After a loud performance, it’s quiet backstage, and that emptiness can hit. We combat it by focusing on gratitude for our fans and working hard to perform more.” This commitment to positivity and gratitude demonstrates how much fans are an important part of their performances and journey as a group.
Jeongseob expressed his favourite moment of working on “SAD SONG” “My favourite moment is our first unit song for me and Intak. It’s a very fun experience. It’s the first time for our band making a unit song”. Intak expressed that he is “most excited for fans to listen to WASP.”
As the conversation turned to their fans, Keeho and Intak along with the rest of the members expressed heartfelt appreciation. “Thank you for loving us! We’ve put so much effort into this album, and we hope to surprise you with our next releases. Let’s enjoy this journey together!” These words resonate perfectly with the collective spirit of P1harmony, who are eager to continue evolving as artists.
With “SAD SONG,” P1Harmony not only delivers an engaging musical experience but also invites listeners to reflect on their own emotions and the power of perseverance. As they move forward, the group remains dedicated to breaking new ground in K-Pop while fostering a deep connection with their growing fanbase.
