Describing themselves as ‘the future of house music,’ duo Lorcan McCarthy and Jamie O’Grady – both from Ireland – have made quite an impact on the Irish music scene in particular. Despite only knowing each other less than a year and meeting through mutual friends, one of the duo’s biggest achievements to date is their receiving half a million views overnight on their remix of the popular Zara Larsson track ‘I Would Like’ – a video which has now received over five million views.
Lorcan and Jamie came together in the summer of 2016, collaborating on a track titled ‘I Found Out,’ which went on to be released under UK label Pink Fish Records. The track went on to receive a large amount of airplay in both the UK and Ireland. This provided the duo with the opportunity to start gigging as much as possible, playing in some of the biggest clubs in Ireland and selling out headline shows.
In December 2016, the duo decided that they wanted to try and remix chart songs – putting their own unique spin on them – ultimately turning them in to club anthems with a house party style twist. Following their success so far, the boys are in the studio working hard writing and recording songs that will hopefully be released soon.
When asked about their influences, there is truly a vast range. Jamie’s musical influences range from Green Day to MK and Oliver Heldens while Lorcan’s biggest musical influence is Martin Garrix, saying that ‘his music has had a huge influence on so many of our tracks and has inspired the way I produce music since the start.’
The boys’ hard work and consistency, along with the ability to stand out within their industry, has helped them to earn a prominent position in the music industry.
