Is 2015 the year celebrity love died?

With my own love life deader than Ryan Seacrest’s new show, (sorry Knock Knock Live), I like to use the relationships of others – especially celebrities – to remember there is love in this world. However, with this year more than half over, all I’ve learned from 2015 is that love is a lie.

I Know It’s Over - Love Is Dead In 2015 2It seems with every passing week, a new celebrity couple breaks up. Is nothing sacred when Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale call it quits after 13 years of marriage? They were my 90s OTP, and now I’m just left bereft.

Then of course there was the Bennifer 2.0 breakup which some saw coming from a mile away. Allegedly, Ben Affleck was cheating with the nanny, and whether or not that’s true, he and Jennifer Garner have a lovely bunch of kids that still need their love and support. I just hope Ben doesn’t go rogue during his grief period and go back to the spray tan orange he was during Bennifer 1.0. Seek solace in Matt Damon’s wonderful arms instead, Ben.

Just yesterday, Zayn Malik of One Direction, and Perrie Edwards of Little Mix, called it quits after a 2 year long engagement. Since they met via the always popular X-Factor, it’s sort of like watching the homecoming King and Queen split, just you know, in front of a media circus.

Speaking of royalty, another devastating break up came from country royalty Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert. I for one, always loved seeing her as a guest on The Voice and though I’m not a country music fan, I thought their relationship was really cute. I guess one or both of them thought otherwise.

This list of breakups just goes on, and on, and on: there was Reba McEntire and her husband of 23 years; sports icons Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn; One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson and girlfriend Eleanor Calder; Billboard hit makers Ariana Grande and Big Sean; and reality stars Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick ended their run together.

Are celebrities cursed? Since the seemingly have it all, does it mean lack of love is their punishment? Or is this just the nature of relationships generally; sometimes people aren’t just meant to be.

Out of the couples who split in 2015, which devastated you the most? Let us know in the comments or on twitter!
