After months of speculation, and endless rumours setting social media ablaze, Jade (aka Jade Thirlwall, aka Queen of Little Mix) has announced details of her forthcoming debut single, ‘Angel of My Dreams’.
Scheduled to be released Friday, July 19th 2024, the gloriously OTT pop banger is said to explore the singers love / hate relationship with the often toxic, and misogynistic music industry she’s been a part of since stepping onto the scene back in 2011.
Co-wriitten in LA by Thrilwall, alongside Steph Jones (Sabrina Carpenter), Pablo Bowman (Calvin Harris), and producer Mike Sabbath (RAYE), the single serves as the South Shields natives first musical release since Little Mix went on hiatus in the spring of 2022.
In the time since then, Jade has been ferociously working away behind the scenes with a string of A-List collaborators, including MNEK, Cirkut, Lostboy, RAYE, Lauren Aquilina and Dave Hamelin alongside Mike, Steph and Pablo, in a bid to create her own unique brand of “Big Pop Girl Energy!”
“I didn’t want to do a safe first single, that was really important to me,” Jade states via a press release. “I’m setting the tone of who I am as an artist on my own. I want people to hear it and be like ‘what the fuck is that song?’. My worst nightmare is for someone to hear my song and go ‘that’s nice’.”
“I’m so proud of it (the single) and I can say that with chest. The fans have waited long enough so now we just want to give it to them”.
With regards to the overall sound and feel of her solo music, the superstar singer adds: “What I’m going for is a pop punch to the face! I want people to be like ‘oh my god, I didn’t expect that’ – but then want to listen to it again.”
