Ahead of the release of his forthcoming album ‘A Modern Day Distraction’ next month, English singer-songwriter Jake Bugg shares the final taster of the record in the form of new single ‘I Wrote The Book’.
Produced by Metrophonic at Metrophonic Studios in London, the beautifully hopeful track sees Bugg at his guitar-driven best, its profound lyric and optimistic message sure to resonate with fans around the world.
Directed by Rachael Halaburda whilst on tour, Jake says of the songs accompanying music video: “We filmed this in the West of Ireland at an amazing pub on a day off between shows. We invited the locals to join us for a few drinks and a sing along. It was a great time!”

On his 6th studio album ‘A Modern Day Distraction’, Jake Bugg returns to his rock roots to deliver a record that turns up the noise while “shining a light on the injustice he’s seen dealt to the family and friends he grew up with”.
Fiery and engaged, the record was born out of a frustration of societal inequality. Bugg found that a time had come when he just couldn’t look away, saying in a press release: “People might say ‘What do you know?’ or ‘Just stick to music’. I’ve got a bit of money, but we all know the people this affects. I was just writing it because it was the way I felt. It pisses me off – especially in a country like ours where we have the means and funds to take care of the people suffering the most, but we choose not to.”
Following a jam packed summer, Jake returns to the road this November for a headlining run of live shows in the UK, EU and US. Tickets are on sale now.
