On Monday night, actor Jamie Foxx was a real life hero after reportedly rescuing a driver from a horrific car wreck.
According to TMZ, the car appeared to skid on the wet road, hitting a ditch and flipping upside down, before bursting into flames outside Foxx’s home in Los Angeles. Foxx found the driver inside of the burning vehicle, unbuckled the seat belt and pulled the man to safety about 30 metres away, after fears that the vehicle would explode.
California Highway Patrol officers said that the “Collateral” actor phoned 911 before rushing out onto the scene to help. The driver was later taken to hospital with major injuries, including burns, once the emergency services had arrived.
Foxx’s rep confirmed the news and told ABC News: “Jamie didn’t hesitate. He jumped out and ran to the car.” The police have not stated that Foxx stepped in to help, however, a statement released said: “Two witnesses that were near the collision scene ran to the burning, overturned truck in an attempt to free the driver. One of the witnesses retrieved a rescue tool from his vehicle allowing the two citizens to break the window, cut the seat belt, and extricate the driver.”
The police also confirmed that the driver was eventually “arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.”
Further information regarding Foxx’s heroic actions have yet to be released, but he must be applauded for stepping in like he did and saving the driver’s life!
