Jenny Slate, 34 and Chris Evans, 35 are both actors in their own right. Evans is most known for his super successful role as Marvel superhero Captain America whereby Slate is best known for her work in several successful indie movies, as well as providing voiceovers for animated characters in movies such as The Secret Life of Pets and Lego Batman.
The two began dating last year after working together on the set of new film, Gifted. However, they separated in February 2017 for reasons unknown until now.

In a recent interview with Vulture Magazine, Slate spoke of the breakup, citing the pressures of social media backlash from fans. She said the couple mostly stayed home together “which was really nice” but dealing with the “psychos” on the Internet was brutal. “The stress that I saw him be put under, I’ve never seen that before, and he handled that really gracefully. He’s not stressed. I was the person that was stressed.”
She also spoke about her struggle to deal with fans who came up to him whilst they were together.
“If you are a woman who really cares about her freedom, her rights, her sense of being an individual, it is confusing to go out with one of the most objectified people in the entire world.” In drug stores, it was a surreal experience when random women came up to Slate “being like, ‘Oh my God, is that Chris Evans? He’s so hot!’ You’re like, ‘How dare you? That’s my boyfriend. But yes, he’s so hot.'”
Seemingly, the pair did not fall for each other straight away but found themselves getting closer thanks to Chris’s game nights that he would have for the cast every week. Despite this they developed a friendship from the jump.
“I remember him saying to me, ‘You’re going to be one of my closest friends.’ I was just like, ‘Man, I f***king hope this isn’t a lie, because I’m going to be devastated if this guy isn’t my friend.'”
Maybe this had something to with the fact that despite their differences, they had so much in common.
“What’s the same about us is not just that we’re from Massachusetts, which was such a delight, but Chris is truly one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, to the point where sometimes I would look at him and it would kind of break my heart. He’s really vulnerable, and he’s really straightforward.”
“He’s like primary colors. He has beautiful, big, strong emotions, and he’s really sure of them. It’s just wonderful to be around. His heart is probably golden-colored, if you could paint it.”

The star even remains optimistic about their future, saying that even if they do not end up back together, she hopes they will be one day be close friends again.
