Following the incredible success of their adorable Christmas advert last year, department store John Lewis had a lot to live up to. Around twelve months ago the world fell totally in love with Buster the Boxer and honestly, we didn’t know if John Lewis could ever top him.
But not only have they topped him, they have completely stolen our hearts again with the story of Moz the Monster.
The store’s Christmas advert for the current festive season is the cutest thing we’ve ever seen, featuring a monster that we all now want to find sleeping under our beds. The two minute long advert which has already been dubbed as John Lewis’ best yet, introduces a friendly monster named Moz who lives under the bed of a seven-year-old little boy called Joe.
At the start of the advert, Moz can be seen hiding under Joe’s bed. The two soon form a bond and it doesn’t take long for a true friendship to blossom right in front of our eyes.
But as is the saying, all good things must come to an end and we’re not at all ashamed to admit that we shed a few tears when poor Joe had to say goodbye to Moz.

John Lewis’ newest festive story definitely hit us right in the feelings which is no surprise since the famed retailers apparently spent millions to get the visuals right, and the advert itself was directed by Hollywood director Michel Gondry. Talk about no expenses spared!
The store even pushed the boat out for the backing track. They scored Manchester band Elbow to perform a cover of The Beatles’ song, “Golden Slumbers,” you know, just in case it wasn’t emotional enough already.
The premiere comes after the much anticipated advert was almost ruined by John Lewis themselves after they released a toy version of Moz the Monster in stores. But luckily the slip-up didn’t ruin too much as the advert still has over a million views on YouTube alone, with many viewers calling it the best festive advert yet.
