We were already super excited to see Zac Efron take on the role of infamous serial killer Ted Bundy in the forthcoming thriller, “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, And Vile,” but it was recently confirmed that legendary actor John Malkovich has signed up to join him.
And with Lily Collins also set to portray Bundy’s longtime girlfriend in the biography, it’s fair to say that this cast list is absolutely stellar.
Academy Award nominee Malkovich is said to be playing Judge Edward Cowart in the movie, which is largely based around the 1979 murder trial of the notorious Ted Bundy. Judge Cowart ultimately sentenced the killer to death, putting an end to his killing spree which spanned four years, seven states, and thirty victims. It is a gritty role that we can’t wait to see John Malkovich step into.
“Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, And Vile,” is a biographical thriller told from the perspective of Ted Bundy’s girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer, who had denied having any knowledge of his murders until she eventually reported him to the police.
Production on the movie is expected to begin on 18th January, with Joe Berlinger (Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory) directing from a screenplay by Michael Werwie which won him a Nicholl Fellowship prize and made the 2012 Black List.
Ara Keshishian and Nicolas Chartier are producing, “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, And Vile,” for Voltage Pictures, while Michael Costigan is producing for Cota Entertainment, and Michael Simkin is producing for Zac Efron’s own Ninjas Runnin’ Wild Productions.
