On August 12, 2008, the Jonas Brothers set records and helped bring back the boy band with the release of their third studio album, A Little Bit Longer. The iconic album reached number one on the Billboard 200 and secured the brothers a place in every teenage girl’s heart.
8 years after the release of this album, songs such as “Burnin’ Up” and “Lovebug” are still classics that helped the Jonas Brothers develop their sound and fan base. Let’s reminisce on some of their biggest moments in 2008 surrounding ALBL!
The monumental release of A Little Bit Longer not only impacted the music charts, but also Times Square in New York City. Check out this video from the night that their album dropped!
Undeniably, the most popular song on this album was “Burnin’ Up.” A band featuring their security guard as a guest rapper on a song was unheard of, and it worked incredibly in their favor. “Burnin’ Up” had over 183,000 downloads in the first week of release alone.
The title track of the album touched on a very personal subject to band member Nick Jonas, focusing on how he felt about his diagnosis with Type 1 Diabetes. With lyrics such as, “You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. And you don’t know what it’s like to feel so low,” Jonas used the song as a type of confessional to get his feelings off his chest.
A Little Bit Longer‘s biggest attribute to the Jonas Brothers’ career was the fact that it brought them to the music industry’s attention as true talented musicians, earning them a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.
8 years later, the Jonas family is still in the public eye with two brothers continuing to release music. Although brothers Nick and Joe are pursuing separate excursions (whether solo or with band DNCE), A Little Bit Longer was a monumental release that helped shape their lives forever.
Kevin Jonas is currently focused on business by creating and releasing many apps, and also on raising his two-year-old daughter Alena. He and wife Danielle are expecting their second child sometime next year.
