Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was released in 2016, set in J.K. Rowling’s famed wizarding world. Set in 1926, Newt Scamander finds himself in bustling New York whilst documenting an array of magical creatures. Unfortunately due to a series of events involving ‘No-Maj’ Jacob Kawolski, a missing magical briefcase, and the small fact of some escaping creatures; the pair must embark on a hunt to save both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
Since Fantastic Beasts was first in the works, many fans were left eagerly anticipating who would play the legendary Albus Dumbledore.
Today it was announced that the role will be played by two-time Academy Award nominee Jude Law.

Pottermore revealed that Dumbledore would appear as Hogwarts’ Transfiguration professor, long before he became headmaster.
Returning director David Yates had his say on the casting…
‘Jude Law is a phenomenally talented actor whose work I’ve long admired and I’m looking forward to finally having the opportunity to work with him. I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life.’
Pottermore also stated ‘The film marked a start of a new era of the wizarding world, set decades before Harry Potter’s adventures at Hogwarts. Its sequel takes the story deeper into an increasingly dark time for the wizarding world, where Newt and our other heroes must decide on their allegiances.’ leaving many fans questioning the position of Dumbledore within the wizarding community.
