This season of America’s Got Talent recently kicked off with some major talent. From incredible young singers and magicians to comedians and dancers – there’s been no shortage of jaw-dropping flair each week. Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, Mel B and Simon Cowell are season 11’s judges and their jobs just got harder as they began to embark on the journey of narrowing down contestants.
Each judge, prior to these episodes, hit their golden buzzer which meant 4 acts got to straight to the live episodes, bypassing the process of elimination by the judges. The aforementioned judges weren’t alone in the process of making cuts, however, 4 guest judges came in to offer their opinions and advice to this season’s hopefuls.
Week one’s guest judge was Ne-Yo and he offered a piece of advice at the beginning of the episode, telling contestants to ‘leave it on the stage’ and when asked what he was looking for, his answer was passion!
The episode started with Hara, an illusionist, who had the judges jaws on the ground as he escaped certain death. There were musicians, dancers, even a man with puppets as the judges navigated through the acts, taking in what changes the contestants made to prepare for the judge’s cut rounds. There were also daredevil acts that made their way to the stage and left the judges worried but entertained at the same time, trying stunts that we admire but would leave to the professionals!
As the talent continued and the judges realized how hard their decision was, Ne-Yo was so impressed with an act that he pressed his golden buzzer for a magician who blew his mind with a card trick.
Linkin Bridge brought the audience to tears, and their feet as they sang acapella on stage after explaining a bit about themselves before they took the stage, their stories all contain struggle, but their drive to rise above it was greater. After their song, Ne-Yo said that he found what he’d first hoped to when he became a guest judge – passion.
Out of all the acts of the evening, 7 went through to the next stage which meant some tough goodbyes for both the judges and the talent, but so many of the contestants are destined for stardom, we’re sure we’ll see them in the future.
The one’s we will see again soon on America’s Got Talent again soon are Ronee Martin, The Passing Zone, Lori Mae Hernandez, Hara, Linkin’ Bridge, Edgar, Jon Dorenbos (who received the golden buzzer).
