The “Jumanji” Cast Reveal Details About The Movie At CinemaCon 2017

It feels like it has been years since the new, “Jumanji,” sequel was first announced yet in reality, it has only been just over a year. And ever since it was confirmed that mega-stars Dwayne Johnson, Nick Jonas, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan would be starring in the continuation of the classic movie, the cast and crew involved have all worked so tirelessly to create what we are predicting will be one of the biggest movies of this year.

But despite the huge buzz around the upcoming movie, everyone working on it has so far managed to keep tight-lipped on what it is actually going to be about. Well, that was until last night when the main cast minus Kevin Hart who couldn’t be in attendance took to the stage at CinemaCon 2017 in Las Vegas to reveal all.

At the event, Dwayne Johnson, Nick Jonas, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan confirmed that the official title of the upcoming movie which is set to be released in late December will be, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” and this news was confirmed by Sony Pictures themselves shortly after. Then, the cast revealed that although they all worked hard to stay true to the testament of the original movie, the follow-up would involve a much more modern twist. Instead of featuring an old board game, it is going to feature a video game console which sucks four teenagers into a deadly jungle and transforms them into rather exaggerated avatar versions of their former selves.

“One nerdy boy is pleased to see he’s got the muscles of The Rock, while the popular girl in school is absolutely horrified to learn that she now has the body of Jack Black…” The Hollywood Reporter revealed following the cast’s appearance at CinemaCon 2017 last night.

The characters then discover that in order to beat Jumanji so that they can return to the real world, they must face the most dangerous adventure of their lives to discover what Alan Parrish left behind twenty years ago and then change the way they all think about themselves. If they fail to do this then they will be stuck in the game forever. And cue a dramatic, “dun dun dun,” moment.

If you’re wondering why we haven’t mentioned singer Nick Jonas’ character in the movie yet, it’s because we still don’t know too much about him. His character who is believed to be called Alex Seaplane has been shrouded in mystery ever since production first began. “There’s a reason there’s not a lot of information. It’s a minefield of spoiler alerts,” star Jack Black explained at CinemaCon 2017 last night. However, he did reveal that Nick’s character would be, “heroic, courageous, and dashing,” which we will just have to settle for until the movie is released.

Find out what else the cast said about, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” in the video below.

Although the cast shared an exclusive teaser of the movie at CinemaCon 2017 last night, it hasn’t been released to the general public yet so we can’t show it to you right now but we are definitely keeping our eyes peeled for when it finally comes out! This sounds like a seriously good film that we are super excited to watch!

“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” will be released on 22nd December.
