This Youtube sensation turned global megastar has never been one to stray from the limelight. Justin Bieber has arrived in the land down under as part of his promotional tour for chart topping single, ‘What Do You Mean?’ and upcoming album, yet to be titled.
The 21 year old touched down in Melbourne for a short visit before making his way to Sydney, where he is scheduled to make many appearances. One such appearance was a performance of ‘What Do You Mean?’ on Australia’s The X Factor, on Tuesday night.
Introduced by a showreel boasting his many achievements – including his current single, which topped charts in 90 countries – Justin Bieber took to the stage before a sea of excited fans (and the occasional unimpressed dad). Much like his other routine performances, the pop star incorporated a crew of dancers with minimalist stage design in his three minute show.
During the song’s bridge, the focus turned to a female dancer, who danced closely with the boy (much to the disapproval of the crowds, if the silence was anything to go by). It seemed he wasn’t fazed by the lull in deafening screams, as he powered on around the show’s judging panel and engaged the seated audience at the back of the venue.
However, Bieber did jokingly admit to the show’s host in a brief live interview that he was feeling breathless from all those exhaustive dance moves. (His fans weren’t complaining.)
As he answered questions about his new album – set to be released 13th November this year – the cheering refused to cease. The hordes of young fans were ecstatic to hear that the new album would be “new, exciting, uplifting and fun”.
Fans fortunate enough to have actually caught a glimpse of Justin skateboarding in the early hours of Tuesday morning were politely lectured by their idol via Snapchat.
The music phenomenon calmly articulated: “If I’m walking somewhere… and you guys are asking me to take a photo – if I don’t respond… the likelihood is that I probably don’t want to take a photo at that moment.
“I want to enjoy the moment like you’re enjoying the moment, but I can’t enjoy it if I’m not feeling there’s any respect given to me.”
So the lesson here is: respect the guy and chances are, you’ll have a lovely chat with your idol – one you’ll remember for ages after.
Nevertheless, Justin Bieber has assured his fans on Twitter that he is “loving Australia”. The warm welcome from Australia has been reciprocated by the pop star, in the form of multiple radio interviews, morning television concerts, special Meet & Greet packages and even a hilarious table tennis face-off with a radio show host’s dad.
After a couple of whirlwind years, one thing’s for sure now: Bieber Fever hasn’t left Australia since the star’s last visit.
