Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have just been awarded with a social media honor: having the most liked picture on Instagram. Kendall Jenner previously held the record for most likes, but she has recently been dethroned by Jelena.
On March 19, Bieber shared a throwback photo of himself and ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez on Instagram. The photo had a massive reaction from fans and the media due to the fact that he simply captioned it, “Feels.” The photo caused such a stir that it is now the most liked picture on Instagram with over 3.57 million likes.
Whether you ship Jelena or not, the resurfacing of this photo was a bit of a surprise to the public! The photo was originally taken when the two were just teenagers on vacation. Jelena supporters were quick to respond and tag Gomez in the comments, hoping to bring the two back together.
The adorable photo took the internet by storm and eventually caught the eye of Selena Gomez. Gomez liked the photo and even commented, “Perfect.” This response drew even more attention to the already shocking Instagram post.
Bieber admitted on The Ellen Show that some of the songs on his newest album Purpose were inspired by this relationship. Although Gomez recently told W Magazine, “I honestly am so done. I care about his health and well-being. But I can’t do it anymore,” we sense an everlasting connection between the two, whether romantically or just as friends.
The previous holder of the most liked Instagram picture was Kendall Jenner. Though she follows close behind still having 3.5 million likes, Bieber and Gomez have just barely passed her up.
