Singer-songwriter-producer Kate Lomas has dropped her dreamy music video for ‘Happy Like This’. The visual depicts Lomas living her life to the fullest extent, from basking in serene swimming pools to living it up at a house party.
For a long time, Kate has been the driver of her own musical destiny. Commanding where her career takes her, she has found herself dominating BBC Radio 1 playlists and featuring on BBC introducing sessions, including performances at Abbey Road and Maida Vale studios.
In 2018 Kate released her sweetly dreamy song ‘Sweet Strange Days’, a song so infectiously memorable that it spent the summer flowing through the air waves at H&M stores across the UK. Shortly after this soaring success came pop anthem ‘Drink 2 U’, the smash single that has amassed over one million streams.
Now skyrocketing to stardom, this year Kate landed gigs at Glastonbury Festival and The Great Escape Festival all whilst in the run up to the release of recent single ‘Happy Like This’, a track perfectly timed to drop for her mainstream television appearance performing on BBC 2’s Great British Menu.
Track ‘Happy Like This’ was co-produced by Kate and her long-term collaborator Guy Britton – takes us on a whirlwind journey from its delicate beginnings to its pumping, shout-along chorus beaming with sparkling synths and four-to-the-floor grooves. With stellar lyrical content to match the infectious musicality of the track, Kate summarises the songwriting behind the song stating, “Happy Like This is all about realising you’re happy with who and where you are. It’s the constant battle you have with yourself when you’re striving to achieve something and you feel like you should always be one step further ahead to be happy. This song is about embracing the moment and placing your value in the here and now.”
The music video for ‘Happy Like This’ depicts Kate dreaming about a carefree life. She has teamed up with Croatian director Paolo Gentilini to visualise the perfect tonic to a summer of no regrets: embracing your imperfections and never looking back.
Following up from the single release of “Happy Like This” which dominated Spotify’s New Pop Revolution playlist, Kate serves up the track’s sun-soaked, party-popping music video to coincide with the announcement of her upcoming headline show at Thousand Island, London later this Autumn.
