Katy Perry was amongst the many celebrities who abused their large social media following and mass of devout fans for their own entertainment on 1st April. Katy took to Instagram to play a good old prank on her fans, attempting to convince them that she was releasing the cover for her latest album.
The I Kissed A Girl songstress uploaded an old photo of herself lounging around in a sports bra and tricked her followers into believing it was the artwork for her highly anticipated fourth studio album.
She captioned the pic: “I’m proud to announce the cover for my 4th album!” But then added “Happy April Fools! Been plotting in the same type of sports bra from my IM and laminated calendar since 99′ It’s all about the long game.” underneath.
Katy has kept her fans on edge recently by promising an album this year, therefore, using the whole thing as part of a prank was a genius idea, if you ask us. Whilst some may be disheartened that Katy hasn’t actually revealed the artwork for her album, but is instead teasing her audience, we think it’s safe to say that the photo she shared would have made a, erm…an interesting album cover. In fact, it’s only made us more excited for the day when Katy announces the official album title and cover.
Katy is remaining tight lipped and has kept details of her upcoming album well and truly under wraps. She is yet to give away any hints of guest features or even a release date, meaning music lovers are wrapped around her little finger, waiting anxiously for the day KP4 is unleashed onto the world. Perhaps she’ll take a Beyoncé style approach and drop everything at once? You just don’t know anymore!
