The year is only halfway over and newcomer KELLA has already released 2 picture-perfect pop songs and garnered 300k streams on Spotify. Today, the time has come for round number three.
Just in time for the warm weather, KELLA delivers a sweet summer song with a serious message. Her latest track is titled “Jealous” and tells the story of a mentally abusive relationship. Recorded and produced with Johannes Andersson in Stockholm and Los Angeles, KELLA “wrote ‘Jealous’ about a specific unhealthy relationship.” In a statement she further explained that “during our off periods, he’d try to get attention by always being with other girls, but the truth is in the title. I didn’t love him enough to be jealous. I just wanted to move on and let him know that I was done dealing with it”.
It is a strong and empowering song that manages to perfectly capture the freeing feeling of leaving an unwelcome situation. Not only is “Jealous” a big and bold pop song, filled with the a chorus that will immediately get stuck in your brain but it is also probably KELLA’s best work to date.
